TEHRAN (IQNA) – A ceremony to pray for the Zionist military forces was held at a synagogue in Rabat during last week’s visit of Israeli war minister to Morocco.

In an unprecedented event, Talmud Torah synagogue saw recitation of prayers for the safety of the occupying forces, RT Arabic reported. It happened during the Benny Gantz’s visit to the north African country.

Israeli media have described the hearing of such prayers in an Arab country as a rare phenomenon.

A number of IDF soldiers with Moroccan roots were also present at the ceremony.

According to the Times of Israel, some 250,000 to one million Israelis have Moroccan roots.

The visit of the Zionist minister and his negotiations with Moroccan officials have been condemned by other countries including Algeria.

“We regret that Morocco has turned into normalizing ties with the occupying regime and moreover, reached a military agreement with the regime,” Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said in reaction to signing agreements between Rabat and the occupying regime over military cooperation.

Morocco normalized ties with the Israeli regime in the framework of the so-called Abraham Accords.

Rabat resumed diplomatic relations with the occupying regime in August following Zionist foreign minister Yair Lapid's visit to the country.

Palestinian people and groups have strongly condemned the normalization of ties between Arab countries and occupiers, describing it as a stab in the back.
