Quranic Center Opens in Libya’s Murzuq Province

--A center for memorization of the holy Quran was launched yesterday, January 3, in Libya’s Murzuq Province, Al-Fajr Al-Jadid daily reported.
A number of religious and cultural figures and local and national officials as well as director of the World Islamic Call Society Muhammad Ahmed al-Sharif attended the ceremony for opening the ‘Jud Daem Quranic Center’.
In an address to the ceremony, Ibrahim Abdus-Salam Al-Ghadhafi director of Libya’s Awqaf and Zakat Department said that his country has made a lot of efforts in recent years to promote the culture of memorizing and reciting the holy Quran.
“A great number of Quranic centers have been launched in the past few years in line with this policy,” he said.
Al-Ghadhafi referred to organizing Quran competitions at national and international levels as another example of Libya’s Quranic activities, adding that Libyan Quran reciters and memorizers have won top titles in numerous Quran competitions abroad.
The Jud Daem Center will train reciters and memorizers of the Quran under the supervision of the province’s Awqaf and Zakat Department.
