Regional Cooperation to Uproot Terrorism
If minor differences are ignored and regional countries take a united stance, terrorism can be rooted out in the region, he said Sunday in a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri.
He added that countries like Lebanon, Iraq and Syria are in a better position than a few years ago and can force all Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist out of the areas they have occupied.
Larijani also referred to the Astana peace talks for Syria and said Iran believes that political dialogue is the best way for resolving issues.
He went on to say that the problems in Syria are not expected to be settled immediately but one should not abandon the path that has been taken to resolve the crisis.
Berri, for his part, described the Islamic Republic of Iran as the source of hope for the Muslim world.
He also referred to Palestine as the main issue in the Muslim world, saying the major terrorist in the region is the Israeli regime.
Berri was among a large number of foreign officials who travelled to Iran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday.
