Malaysia’s representative Abdullah bin Fahmi bagged the top prize in this category while Salaheddin Haysam from Algeria came third.
The three, along with winners of other categories in the men and women sections received their awards at the closing ceremony on Saturday.
Malaysia’s king, Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan, officiated the ceremony, which was held at the Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur.
A total of 53 Qaris and 25 Quran memorizers competed in the international Quranic event.
Officially named the “International Al Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly”, the competition started on Monday with the participation of Quran reciters and memorizers from 56 countries.
