TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iraqi media activist said some regional media outlets portray a fabricated status for the ISIL terrorist group and act to serve the United States and Israel.

Speaking to IQNA, Mohammad Ali al-Hakim, the managing director of Iraq’s al-Nakhil news agency, said these media that are financially supported by Saudi Arabia and Qatar actually promote the takfiri terrorist group.

He said ISIL has committed heinous crimes in the past few years but these outlets describe it as a “liberating front”.

He referred to al-Arabiya and al-Jazeera as some of these media that spread lies and false reports.

Al-Hakim further said that ISIL follows the same path as Yazid’s and that is why one should learn from the movement of Imam Hussein (AS) to confront them.

ISIL is a Takfiri terrorist group operating in Iraq and Syria.

It is believed to be supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.

The terrorist group claims as an independent state the territory of Iraq and Syria, with implied future claims intended over more of the Levant, including Lebanon, occupied Palestine, Jordan, Cyprus, and Southern Turkey.

The ISIL militants made advances in northern and western Iraq over summer 2014, after capturing swaths of northern Syria.

However, a combination of concentrated attacks by the Iraqi military and the volunteer forces, who rushed to take arms after top Iraqi cleric Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani issued a fatwa calling for fight against the militants, have blunted the edge of the ISIL offensive.
