TEHRAN (IQNA) – The head of Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement’s Executive Council hailed the growing power of the Muslim world and the waning influence of the US.

Addressing a program held in southern Lebanon, Sayyed Hashem Safieddine said with this increasing power of the Islamic world, there will be new developments in the West Asia region, Al-Ahed News reported.

With this trend and the fading US influence, he said, Washington will encounter worse situations than what it faced in Afghanistan.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikh Safieddine referred to US and Israeli plots hatched against Lebanon and said, “In order to defend Lebanon, we should be powerful in the regional equation.”

He described resistance in the face of the economic sanctions as the most important issue to defeat the enemy.

The cleric also hailed the imports of fuel from Iran to Lebanon and said Israel admitted that it could not prevent the arrival of the vessels carrying fuel because the Tel Aviv regime knows it cannot afford to see Hezbollah enter conflicts in seas.

“Israel knows that our missiles can reach the farthest points in the occupied territories and (the sea ports there),” he went on to say.

Iran has so far sent several shipments of fuel to Lebanon to help the Arab country deal with its fuel shortage.

The successful delivery of fuel from Iran through Syria to Lebanon is a significant achievement, given that all three countries are faced, directly and indirectly, with international sanctions as part of the US maximum pressure campaign.
