TEHRAN (IQNA) – A conference on the issue of Islamic unity is set to be held in UAE’s Abu Dhabi in mid-December.

Titled “Islamic Unity, Concept, Opportunities and Challenges”, the conference has been organized by the World Muslim Communities Council.

Supported by UAE’s tolerance minister Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the conference is set to start on December 12 and will run for three days.

A press conference was held at the council’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi on Sunday to give details of the event. The conference was attended by the council’s chairman Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi and its secretary general Mohamed Bechari.

According to Nuaimi, the significance of the event stems from the requirement to offer a legal and intellectual discourse that fills the void among Muslim communities across the globe. The conference will address the challenges of belonging to contemporary Muslim society and also tries to present a proposal commensurate with the requirements of the age.

The World Muslim Communities Council is an international non-governmental organization headquartered in Abu Dhabi. It includes more than 900 Islamic organizations and institutions from 142 countries, aiming to achieve one goal: the integration of Muslim communities into their countries, and for its members to achieve full citizenship and complete affiliation with the Islamic religion.
