The contest was organized by Al-Azhar Graduates World Organization in cooperation with Abol Ainain charity foundation.
More than 500 foreign students along with some 3,000 students from different parts of Egypt took part in the competition in the holy month of Ramadan (April).
A number of officials of the Al-Azhar Islamic University were present at the ceremony, soutalomma.com reported.
Addressing the event, Nazir Ayad, secretary general of the university’s Islamic Studies Center, hailed the gathering of Quranic activists from different countries.
He also said Quranic activities such as this competition held for students of Al-Azhar help to promote the Quran.
Muhammad Al-Mahrasawi, the president of Al-Azhar University, was another speaker who noted that more than 30,000 students from some 100 countries study at the academic center.
