Delegation of Iranian Sunni Clerics Meet Tanzania’s Mufti

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iranian delegation of Sunni clerics met and held talks with Tanzania’s Mufti on Tuesday in the African country.

 

The delegation, coming from Golestan Province, met with Sheikh Abubakar Zubeiry as part of their programs in Tanzania.

Sheikh Salaheddin, founder of Chenarli seminary school in the Iranian province, set in the meeting that the aim of the visit is to meet with “religious brothers”, get acquainted with the culture and traditions of Tanzanian people, and visit seminary schools of the African country.

He also provided a brief explanation of the activities of Chenarli seminary.

Also speaking in the meeting, Sheikh Esmail Ghadiri, Friday prayers leader of Chenarli, said that Sunnis and Shias have no problem inside Iran.

Mosques for Sunni Muslims have expanded since the start of the Islamic Revolution as the number of Sunni mosques is more than that of Shia mosques in Golestan province, manager of Chenarli seminary Sheikh Issam Uddin said.

For his part, the Tanzanian mufti appreciated the visit of the Iranian delegation, describing such meetings as invaluable.

Referring to the need to promote unity in the Muslim world, Sheikh Zubeiry said he would travel to Iran in the next two months to get acquainted with the scientific and cultural achievements of Muslim scholars in Iran.

The Head of Al-Mustafa International University’s branch in Tanzania, Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Taghavi, also participated in the meeting.
