The copies of the Holy Book will be handed out during the holy month of Ramadan, according to Al-Watan newspaper.

They include translations of the Holy Quran in 76 languages, the report said, adding that they will be distributed among religious and Islamic centers as well as offices affiliated to the ministry.

The copies are printed in the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran, which is based in the holy city of Medina.

It produces about 10 million copies of the Quran every year. It also publishes translations of the Holy Book in various languages.

Ramadan (which will begin on March 23 this year) is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.

They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.
