7th Int’l Quran Contest for Women Begins in Dubai

DUBAI (IQNA) – The 7th edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak international Quran competition for women was launched in Dubai, the UAE, on Saturday.

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of officials, including Ibrahim Bu Milha, adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and chairman of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA).

Quran memorizers from 60 countries are taking part in this year’s edition, which will run until Friday, September 22.

They via for the top prize in the category of memorization of the entire Quran. 

The competition is held in two morning and afternoon sessions every day.

On Saturday, the representatives of Egypt, Bahrain, Malaysia, Austria and Singapore answered the questions of the panel of judges.

The panel comprises Quran experts from the host country as well as Egypt, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Syria. Three of its members are female Quran experts.

The DIHQA annually organizes the international Quranic event for women from various countries.
